Les Crosets
Situated at 1,670m above sea level in a sunny bowl above Champery, Les Crosets is the ideal jumping-off point to explore the whole of the Portes du Soleil. This includes Avoriaz and Morgins, and further afield, Chatel and Morzine. Over the last few years, Les Crosets has undergone a major transformation from small mountain farm community to a high class alpine activity resort which also offers excellent summer holiday options as well.
Champery is just a cable car ride away and the Thermal Baths in Levey des Bains can also be accessed easily. The Post Bus connects Les Crosets with trains in Val d’Illiez, enabling you to explore the entire Valais region. In summer, it’s possible to mountain bike or walk long distances and explore large areas by taking advantage of the chair lifts, before returning to Mountain Lodge for a well earned relaxation session in our spa, or in the terrace bar!
Mountain Lodge is situated in the Hameau, a new Alpine style hamlet with shops, supermarket, small spa, bars and restaurants. The tourism office is situated adjacent to the hotel, providing a wide range of useful information about the area and the activities on offer. There are several good bars in the Hameau, which regularly feature live bands. And in winter, for those with energy left after a day on the slopes.
Portes du Soleil
In the summer when the snow is gone, Europe's longest mountain range takes on a whole new identity. Whether you want to hike through Alpine meadows, chase adrenaline thrills or relax in a spa, Mountain Lodge is the ideal base for a wonderful high-altitude Summer break.
The world-renowned Portes du Soleil recreational area includes the mountain resort of Les Crosets, along with the nearby resorts of Champéry, Val-d'Illiez, Champoussin, Morgins, and Torgon - in conjunction with French resorts across the border. This region is a paradise for mountain biking, horse riding and hiking, offering unparalleled diversity within a radius of around 35km.
A wide range of activities which appeal to children and adults alike are on offer. Amusement parks, educational walking trails and animal parks will appeal the young, and the young at heart, whilst there are also countless historical, cultural and natural sites to explore. Saint-Maurice is known for its history and culture, Monthey is the place for an evening out at the theatre or for shopping, and Le Bouveret and St-Gingolph are ideal for lakeside and water sports, cruises and mouth-watering fish dishes served up fresh from the lake.
Lake Geneva
In Switzerland you don't have to go far before coming up against a picturesque stretch of water. Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) is just a 40 minute car journey and a visit to the lakeside towns of Vevey and Montreux on the Swiss side offers a most enjoyable day out. The towns are linked by a path that meanders its way through lakeside gardens, allowing for a leisurely walk with the stunning scenery of the Alps as a backdrop for the wide expanse of water that is Lake Geneva. And on the French side of the lake, Evian, with its beaches and lively centre, is less than an hour away.
