Mountain Lodge Les Crosets – ‘True’ Ski in/Ski out Luxury Chalet
Many hotels and chalets style themselves as a ski in/ski out luxury – but how many really deliver on that promise?
In reality not all ‘ski in/ski out’ accommodation is the same, and it’s vital that you understand the difference before booking. Many properties are not completely adjacent to the ski slope, and the last thing you want is to find yourself walking down a busy road in your ski boots! At Mountain Lodge, the groomed slopes are just a few metres from our boot room.
The benefits of true ski in/ski out access
At Mountain Lodge, the ski in/ski out luxury chalet, you will be among the first skiers to enjoy a pristine powder morning. No need for treacherous walks via what could be icy pathways, steps or even roadways.
Avoid shuttle transportation, parking or ticketing congestion, which is extremely frustrating, and time consuming, particularly if you are skiing as a family or with a group of friends. Come home at lunchtime to meet children from ski school or non skiers in your party. Save time and money by not having to eat lunch in crowded mountain restaurants.
Perhaps the best part of a true ski in/ski out property is that, at the end of the day, you can return home in a leisurely manner to enjoy a soothing après ski experience, while others have to spend a considerable amount of time and effort to get themselves and their equipment back to their hotels!
If you are on a short break and want to maximize your skiing time at the end of the day, you can keep taking any one of three large fast chair lifts up until they close, in the knowledge that your ski down from the top of the Mountain will bring you back to Mountain Lodge!
Easy access for all levels of ability
Mountain Lodge offers a number of access options. For experienced skiers, a 20 metre walk up an incline takes you directly to the piste from our boot room – and at the end of the day there is no walking at all, as you can simply glide right to the door! For less experienced skiers, depending on recent snow fall, there is a short 50 metre walk across to the Nursery slopes and back to the piste. This direct access also makes Mountain Lodge ideal for beginners.
From the piste the short Tk du Hameau drag lift – with an ‘easy blue’ return – takes you into the Les Crosets bowl. Here, three high speed chairlifts give you direct access to all levels of skiing in both the Swiss and French Alps. The ski school have recently created a much larger area for its beginner training slopes adjacent to the hotel, so things just keep getting better! Mountain Lodge is also a key sponsor of the ski school, and has very close links with all the ski instructors.
So, if you are looking for the most relaxing and enjoyable ski holiday imaginable, true ski in/ski out at Mountain Lodge is definitely the way to go. We look forward to welcoming you.
What to look for when booking
Because of the many advantages of true ski in/ski out, some accommodation providers will try to market their properties in this way, meaning that guests fully expect to walk out of the door, click on their skis, and glide down to the nearest lift. But it’s not always quite that simple – and you need to make sure you choose a ski lodge or hotel that isn’t trying to market itself as something it’s not.
For example, some accommodation only provides access to ski slopes via private trails which were originally cut by the property developer. If the ski resort has no responsibility for maintaining the trails, or if the trails are too narrow to be maintained by a machine, safe access maybe difficult or even impossible.
Depending on snowfall, we maintain access using snow clearance machines. The team in the ski shop do everything possible to look after the safety of our guests and to ensure that all access routes are easy to negotiate. And in the unlikely event that these routes are impassable, then we will endeavour to use our vehicles to take you directly to the piste!
Please note: As we are sure you can appreciate, all access is of course subject to snow conditions!
