There’s no business like snow business – message from Phil
No, I am not singing it for you. Cheesy gimmick aside the snow has really been calling the shots this season! December graced us with what was labelled as ‘the worst start to a ski season for over 40 years.’ When you consider that this year is the 50th anniversary of the Portes du Soleil, we basically had the worst start to a season EVER!?
A huge well done to all the guests who stayed in the hotel during those most testing times! We had customers driving to Verbier (which by the way, wasn’t exactly buried in snow) along with other parts of the Portes du Soleil, staff drove minibuses round to Chatel and other areas so that people could still get their skis on. It was Madness! Guests still kept smiling, in spite of this and making the most of their holidays. Well done guys! Very well done!
But that was then, and now is now! After one of the most lengthy and consistent snow falls in recently memory the early snow drought looks like an impossible memory. Everything was white, pistes were smooth, drinks were going down smooth and the Mountain Lodge still sat perfectly backed up against the slopes. When the sun hit the terrace we all remembered that this really is a SPECIAL PLACE TO BE!
Book now for next season, we look forward to welcoming back our loyal, returning guests and to meeting new ones.
